What are the advantages and disadvantages of Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 Elite?
My brother and I are going to get either a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 Elite. He is being ignorant about getting an Xbox and I want to know how much better Playstation 3 is.
In addition to what the others said:
For online,
The PS3 has free online play, but is not as good as Xbox LIVE in terms of population and activeness, but it has a fairly nice community. If you want to speak to players, any Bluetooth headset would do.
Xbox LIVE has a very excellent online network and system, but you have to pay monthly or yearly.
$20 USD for 3 months, $50 for a year. There is also a 1 month, but I think it’s discontinued, I’m not certain. You’ll also find a lot of really "open" players from around the world, but you can put that into consideration if that concerns you. Xbox LIVE is known for its rowdy audience
For talking online, you’ll need a headset, a basic and easily-breaking one is around $20 (you can probably find a used one though for around $10), but the wireless one is $50, I think. The Elite should have it’s own though.
Also, the Xbox 360 is known to be unreliable due to it’s high failure rate, but the newer models are a bit better. It can vary from person to person, but as long as you don’t open the 360 and fix what’s inside, and just send it to Microsoft with your warranty if it gets the Red Ring of Death (RRoD), with that, you should be fine. It shouldn’t happen with the newer ones like the Elite, but just have the warranty whenever that chance happens. There’s also the probability of disc scratching, so try not to move the console around while a disc is inside, and put the console in a nice, well-ventilated room. It would be better to put it on a wooden surface or wire rack.
They both have their upcoming exclusives so what ever genre you like, that’s what you should lean toward. Both work with shooters well, but the 360 is slightly better because that’s where the shooter community is, and that the handling of the controller is much better.
For fighting games, the PS3 is your best bet. The fighter community cannot stand the pain that the 360 d-pad brings, but whatever floats for you. I found it harsh as well. If you play just for fun, you probably won’t mind it on the 360.
For RPG’s, both are good. It’s just that the earlier RPG’s are lacking, from what I hear. The PS3 seems to be catching up with its RPG tradition though, getting many of its RPG’s back on track, so watch out for that.
In terms of graphics, they are similar, neck-to-neck. If anyone tells you if one is better, they are wrong. Its just that no game has used the graphical limits of Blu-ray (PS3). All in all, if you have an HDTV, you’re set for both. Graphics don’t really make the game; its just eye-candy.
Good luck on your choice!

Neither is better or worse than the other because the only thing that matters is what games each console is getting.
You have to look at the games that are coming out for each console and that are currently out and decide that way.
Advantages of PS3: Can play PS3 games.
Disadvantages: Can’t play 360 games.
Advantages of 360: Can play 360 games.
Disadvantages of 360: Can’t play PS3 games.

Well the PS3 really is better since it has allot of cool features like Blu-ray, built in Wi-fi, music, video, and picture storage, access to the PlayStation Network so you should probably go with the PS3 but your choice.

In general, the 360 is the better console, but the upside the PS3 has is that it doesn’t easily scratch games. If there is sudden movement (i.e. jumping or stomping) the 360′s laser pointer will bump into the disk, and permanently scratch it.

Get xbox dude! Legit its better. It has better games, better online, and a TON of more people have xbox then ps3.
The disadvantages about xbox is that you have to pay for the internet. but its $50 a year which isnt even bad and its worth it.
The ps3 has better graphics than the xbox but really not by much. it has a blue ray player, but not a lot of people have it.
It really depends on what your friends have. If most your friends have xbox get xbox and if they have ps3 get ps3. But overall i’d say xbox is better.
And yea it has a lot of more games and more games that are fun than ps3

I agree with Dylan. I own both and play my 360 more because it has more exclusives and the exclusives are just overall better.
