  2. TheDevilBurning Says:

as far as what you …
as far as what you mentioned about the graphics and soud I feel the same way about pretty much all genesis games, even as a kid i noticed this also in mortal kombat 2 it’s pretty noticeable.

    man, such nostalgic …
man, such nostalgic days, i remmember when my best friend got his new snes… it was like WOW when we first played super mario world, and he also got this game, which by the time we didnt bother reading the manual so we did not know that there were actual moves, we thought they were just random stuff that happened…lol i was a fan of quile back then, but now im a die hard ken fan!

  4. dunnono00 Says:

    I believe only one …
I believe only one or two games have ever used 512×448. You’ll find that every other game on the SNES uses 256×224, including the Street Fighter II incarnations. 512×448 was used occasionally for menus or static pictures, but the SNES hi-res mode was actually quite limited and taxed the slow processor too much to be practical.

That said, I’m not entirely certain the Genesis is pushing 320×224 in SCE, but that would account for the screen size.

  5. efaustus9 Says:

    The genesis version …
The genesis version does not utilize a higher resolution in fact its running at lower resolution. Further there is a subtle boarder around the screen on the genesis version where as the snes version takes up the full screen. The max rez of the genesis was 320 x 224 where as the snes max rez was 512 x 448.

  6. dunnono00 Says:

    I’ll never get …
I’ll never get tired of these comparisons. I think this one is spot on thus far. I’d add that side by side, if the screen size for both is accurate, than the Genesis version utilized a higher resolution.

The SNES definitely had more colors on display and the sound effects on the Genesis are horrible. The music on the Genesis, however, might sound closest to the arcade.

I get the feeling the parallax scrolling might be smoother in the SNES, but I’m unsure.

  7. efaustus9 Says:

    The genesis version …
The genesis version runs smoother due to its faster cpu. However the snes has both a better video and audio chip then the genesis. Pause at 8:24 and note the richer colors on the snes version while the genesis version looks washed out. Also due the limitations of the genesis the game does not take up the full screen on that system. Sound is with out question better on the snes version. In the end though gameplay is king, and due to is smoother play I suppose the genesis would win out.

  8. BillyCauseyjr Says:

    I dunno, the gen …
I dunno, the gen music reminds me of the classic cps1 music, but the snes is more like an abridged version of the cps2 soundtrack.

(for those who don’t know SFII through Turbo arde were done on CPS1 hardware, while Super SF II and Super SFII Turbo were on CPS2 hardware)

  9. eL3ctr1c4L Says:

    You must review …
You must review Mortal Kombat 3 for bouth the Genesis and SNES, you’ll see MUCH difference.

  10. ultramegamanx454 Says:

    The details in the …
The details in the snes version is w/o a doubt the best of the two. The sound effects as well. But I’d have to say the music in the genesis version was slightly better.

  11. Blackdragon52k Says:

I just got it for …
I just got it for Genesis for the EXACT SAME PRICE YOU SAID I’d get it (And judging by the text font of the price tag on yours you got it from The Exchange right? Great Store.)

  12. Vancityplayboy Says:

    I honestly pick …
I honestly pick graphics on and voices were clearer on SNES but music for Genesis

  13. Draken4426 Says:

Some ppl think that the SNES version LOOKS better, if your one of them you must be blind if ur looking at the same vid i am.

But still the Genesis 6-botton pad is a better fighting pad than the snes with 4 buttons + 2 shoulder buttons

But Genesis had two Street Fighter 2′s. It also had Super Street Fighter 2.

  20. nooblet911 Says:

    I think both …
I think both version were on-pair. the genesis had a bit sharper picture, but less colours, worse sound and bad controls without the aditional controller, while snes had a bit washed-out picture and a little bit less animation, but was better in other terms

  21. nooblet911 Says:

    yeah, but you had …
yeah, but you had to buy the 6-button controller. many didn’t have it, even some who had this game

  25. Badassbab Says:

    Ha ha great review. …
Ha ha great review. I had both versions and as a kid I’d endlessly compare them. SNES version obviously had more colours and better speech quality, that’s due to it’s graphic chip being able to display more colours and it had a digital stereo sound chip. The SNES was released a few years after the Genesis so you’d think it would have the superior hardware. Some of the music was better on the Genesis IMO and I always preferred the 6 button layout of the Sega pad to the Nintendo one.
