I already have playstation which I used to watch Netflix, I am planning on canceling my cable. Do you think I need Roku or is having a playstation the same thing.

The Roku supports more media types by default and has more channels for watching media, so if that’s all you really want to do then it’s probably more of what you want. The PlayStation has Hulu Plus, Netflix, and a few others but not much beyond that and what’s available for rent on the PlayStation Store. Roku has more free channels for stuff and not much is free on the PS3.

If you use software like PlayOn or PS3 Media Server though then your PS3 can be a great media streamer if you’re willing to mess with configurations.. You also need to have a computer that can stream stuff to your PS3.

Really, you should buy a PS3 for the games more than for the media capabilities though because there’s many cheaper alternatives to a PS3 for media.

I have a ps3 and I live in a dorm and the internet connection says it is incompatible with my ps3. I need to access a website to get to sign in. Is there a patch or something I can use to make my ps3 use my internet?

I forgot my Playstation Network account password, I know the email. However in order to recover it, I need my date of birth. I was in a rush so I created a fake date of birth. Now what? I live in the United States if anyone is going to give me a phone number. Anyone have past experiences? Thank you so much in advance.

Might want to call Sony to see if they can help you recover an account.

Could I transfer the hard drive to my new ps3? I do remember my ps3 account password and the email address.If this doesn’t work is there another way?

buy a hdd enclosure from amazon, 2.5" one btw
take the hard drive from the ps3 put it in the enclosure, transfer all the files to a pc
put hard drive back into ps3, send old ps3 away, new ps3 arrives.
find a tool that allows you to pack the ps3 files from the old ps3 into an official ps3 restore file
place newly packed files into an external hdd (NTFS format)
back up from external storage or something like that
all the game data is back where it should be
